THE GOLDEN RULES TO FOLLOW WHILE BURNING YOUR SCENTED CANDLES!

1. TRIM THE WICK

Always remember this golden rule of “Trimming the wick at least ½ inches before burning any candle. You can use a regular pair of scissors in case you don’t have a wick trimmer. Trimming a wick is important because an untrimmed wick might lead to sooting (smoke) and uneven burning in a candle.

2. INITIAL BURN IS VERY IMPORTANT

Just like us, candles also have a memory. To have an effortless candle burning experience, the initial burn is very important. So, when you first burn your candle, let it burn for minimum 2-3 hours. Follow 1 hour per inch of diameter of the candle. Allow the top layer of wax to melt all the way across the edges. Messing up with the initial burn might lead to the formation of memory rings, which will cause uneven burning in a candle.

3. NEVER BURN CANDLES FOR MORE THAN 3 CONSECUTIVE HOURS

You should never burn your candles for more than 3 consecutive hours as it might lead to mushrooming of the wick (a mushroom like formation on top of carbon) which will cause the candle to create smoke. For example, if you have to burn your candles for the whole night then extinguish them at intervals of every 3 hours, let the wax cool down, trim the wick and then relight the candles to enjoy a perfect illumination for the whole night.

4. DO NOT PLACE CANDLES NEAR MOVING AIR

Don’t place your candles near windows, AC units, fans or any place where there is movement in the air. It could also be a room where people are just moving in and out, highly trafficked areas will disturb the flame, causing it to flicker that will lead to uneven burning of the candle and sooting (black smoke).

5. NEVER TOUCH OR MOVE A BURNING CANDLE

It is advised that you should never move or touch a burning candle. The melted wax could possibly spill on your expensive furniture, clothes or skin. If you have to relocate a candle then extinguish it, let the wax cool down and then move it to your desired location. Also, just don’t forget to trim the wick again in case the candle has been burning for more than 3 hours.

6.PAIR CANDLES WITH GLASS HOLDERS FOR OUTDOOR SPACES

As we have already advised you to keep the candles away from moving air, we have a simple trick if you want to enjoy candlelight on a breezy night. Just pair the candles with tall glass vases or holders, they will keep the flame protected from air movement while allowing you to indulge in the mesmerizing ambiance of warm candlelight.

7.MAINTAIN A DISTANCE WHILE PLACING CANDLES IN GROUP

If you’re creating candle centerpieces or placing them in a group then always maintain a distance of minimum 2 -3 inches between the candles. If the candles are placed too close to each other then they might burn unevenly and the flame could possibly cause the surrounding candles to drip.

8.BURN CANDLE OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN AND PETS

If you don’t want your little furry bundles of joy who keep hopping around here and there to catch fire then please place your candles away from pets and children.
